Basic Education with ECE Foundation
The Basic Education (BE) program aims to inculcate child centered interactive practices among children, their families, teachers and communities in general.
The philosophy of this program is based on the belief that children grow best when they are intrinsically involved in their own learning. CRI methodology encourage children to make choices, take responsibility for their decisions, express their ideas creatively, help each other, and develop critical thinking skills and practice independent thinking. Learning is interactive freely initiated by the child, open ended and creative through out the day in the classroom.
BE is implemented through a series of steps. Through extensive five days trainings twice a year teachers are trained in interactive teaching and learning techniques, provided with Curriculum Guides and receive Creative Learning Materials for their classrooms. The guidance the teachers receive allows them to implement active learning by setting up different activity centers in their classrooms. Each teacher’s individual progress is monitored by the MTTs, who observe classrooms and provide hands on guidance when necessary.
CRI facilitates teachers in setting up activity centers to help children interactively explore their lessons. Centers are set up using Learning Material provided by CRI. Centers include Mathematics, Science, Literacy, Art and Dramatic Play. Each center provides clarity of concepts based on syllabus. Children’s work is displayed on wall. Portfolios have been introduced for on-going assessment of students. Story books have been provided to classrooms. Learning is made fun for children through Morning Meeting, providing choice time to children, making books and sharing them on author’s chair, celebrating hundred days, math day and science day and through dramatics. |
